DIY Statement Necklace inspired by Dylanlex

  Fashion enthusiasts are known for being fond of collecting accessories. However, I also do know that most of the jewelry pieces being sold in the market tend to tarnish very easily. I say it's now time to put those old/tarnish/broken jewelry pieces into good use! Grab your tools and we'll be doing an exciting diy jewelry project! This project is inspired by no other than the sisters of meandlex.blogspot.hk. Below are the things that you will need.    How to: 1. Choose a base necklace from your pile of old necklaces. Make sure it has (1) loops or holes where other chains can be attached and (2) it's sturdy enough to carry the weight of the additional chains. Then, cut/remove the parts with cloth materials (if any). 2. Choose your next piece and attach it to your base necklace with the use of jump rings and pliers. 3. Attach your third piece and work your way down.  4. Repeat the third step until you're satisfied with the look of your necklace. 5. Add embellishments to the bottom of the necklace. In this case, I used spiked beads. You may opt to use other eye catching jewelry findings that you like. You can use coins or gems if you have.  6. Get old newspapers. Use the newspapers as to cover your flooring. Next, get your metallic silver spray paint bottle and shake it well before using. I bought the BOSNY metallic silver aluminum enamel spray paint at Landmark Dept. Store (hardware section). It costs Php 159.75. (Notice I took out the second piece at this point. I realized that the necklace is already too heavy so I replaced the initial second piece by a thinner and lighter chain)    7. Spray your first light coat of paint then wait for 2-3 minutes for the second coat. Leave it to dry for about an hour.
8. Turn it over and spray the back part. Leave it to dry for another hour. (If you don't want to flip over your necklace, you can hang it instead of laying it flat so you can spray on it on both sides at the same time)
9. Cut loose wires (if any) then use a hanger to hang your neckpiece. Leave it to dry overnight.   10. Voila! You have a brand new necklace without even having to spend! What do you guys think of this diy project? Let me know!
