DIY statement necklace dylanlex
Fashion enthusiasts are known for being fond of collecting accessories. However, I also do know that most of the jewelry pieces being sold in the market tend to tarnish very easily. I say it's now time to put those old/tarnish/broken jewelry pieces into good use! Grab your tools and we'll be doing an exciting diy jewelry project! This project is inspired by no other than the sisters of meandlex.blogspot.hk. Check them out at Instagram @dylanlex and you'll be incredibly amazed at the jewelry parties they create!

You guys ready for the project? Let's start! Below are the things that you will need.
DIY statement necklace materials
How to:
DIY statement necklace dylanlex
1. Choose a base necklace from your pile of old necklaces. Make sure it has (1) loops or holes where other chains can be attached and (2) it's sturdy enough to carry the weight of the additional chains. Then, cut/remove the parts with cloth materials (if any).

2. Choose your next piece and attach it to your base necklace with the use of jump rings and pliers.

3. Attach your third piece and work your way down.

4. Repeat the third step until you're satisfied with the look of your necklace.

5. Add embellishments to the bottom of the necklace. In this case, I used spiked beads. You may opt to use other eye catching jewelry findings that you like. You can use coins or gems if you have.

6. Get old newspapers. Use the newspapers as to cover your flooring. Next, get your metallic silver spray paint bottle and shake it well before using. I bought the BOSNY metallic silver aluminum enamel spray paint at Landmark Dept. Store (hardware section). It costs Php 159.75. (Notice I took out the second piece at this point. I realized that the necklace is already too heavy so I replaced the initial second piece by a thinner and lighter chain)

7. Spray your first light coat of paint then wait for 2-3 minutes for the second coat. Leave it to dry for about an hour.
8. Turn it over and spray the back part. Leave it to dry for another hour. (If you don't want to flip over your necklace, you can hang it instead of laying it flat so you can spray on it on both sides at the same time)
9. Cut loose wires (if any) then use a hanger to hang your neckpiece. Leave it to dry overnight.

10. Voila! You have a brand new necklace without even having to spend!
What do you guys think of this diy project? Let me know!

Max Factor Colour Effect Flipstick Review

Thursday, August 22, 2013

It's now time to get creative with your lipstick!
max factor colour effect flipstick
Max Factor launched a double-ended lip product, a lipstick with a smooth creamy pigmented finish in one end and a lip gloss with a translucent metallic finish on the other. This lip product doesn’t only give you the privilege of having two lip products in the price of one but it also allows you take your creative skills to the next level by encouraging you to try new lipstick tricks.

The Lipstick Trick
Max Factor suggests you to try this new lipstick trick: outline your lips with the lipstick then apply the lip gloss to the center. The result would highlight the center of the lips and would give your lips a texturized fuller lips effect ala Angelina Jolie.

Moisturizing Properties
If you’re prone of having cracked lips, this product might be your best bet. It has moisturizing properties that’s contained within a wax structure that allows the color to glide onto your lips and lets you ‘Flipstick’ with ease.

Packaging
I won’t rave about the packaging. I think it could've been better if they made use of opaque transparent lipstick caps instead of transparent ones.

Price
The product is available in Max Factor makeup counters nationwide at the SRP of Php 625.00. I think the price is reasonable enough given the fact that you have a lipstick, a lipgloss and a chance to really get creative with it.

The collection comes in 8 flipsticks: Bloomy Pink, Folky Pink, Boreal Mauve, Mosaic Mauve, Salsa Red, Gipsy Red, Swingy Brown and Melody Brown.

I love the fact that you can just bring one product and the possibilities are already endless. You can also head over to Fleur De Force’s blog and you’ll see more of what I mean. (Have you heard of rhinestones lip art?) I say you give this product a try and test your creative skills with it!
For those who have tried this product, did you like it?

Weekend Getaway: Camsur Watersports Complex

Tuesday, August 20, 2013

Camsur Watersports Complex is a training ground for wakeboarders located in the heart of Pili, Camarines Sur.
Although there's a wakeboard park in Nuvali (only an hour drive from Manila), I haven't had the chance to try wakeboarding there so when we knew we were heading off to Albay, CWC instantly came to mind. To those coming from the Naga airport, you don't have to worry about the transportation cause CWC provides complimentary shuttle services for those people who will their accommodation services. You can opt to stay in a cabana, wood cabin, container, villa or  in their mansion suite. I highly recommend staying in the wood cabin due to its modern design, squeaky clean rooms and complete room amenities.

Luckily, August is an off-peak season so we were able to get the promo rate of P999 which includes unlimited wakeboarding time + wood cabin accommodation. We first checked-in and stayed at our room and decided we'll just wait until the morning to wakeboard. Morning came and we immediately went to the CWC resto to have breakfast. I ordered the all-time favorite Filipino breakfast, tapsilog (P150). The tapsilog was too sweet for my taste but it was good enough for the price.

After breakfast, we got the necessary safety gear (life vest + helmet - make sure to prepare the security deposit fee of P500 and the gear rental rate of around P90 because gear rental is not yet included in P999 promo) and headed to the beginner's lake. If you're a beginner, a trainer will first assist you and brief you with the basics. The trainer told me to squat and put my weight at the center, once I feel the tension in the rope I have to tighten my grip, maintain the squat position and try to find my balance. It took me awhile to find my balance so I fell mid-way during the first few tries. You'll get the hang of it after 5 tries or so. Once you're confident enough with the squat position, you should try to stand up next. And once you're really stable standing up, you can opt to try other tricks like the jump start and other twist and turn tricks.

After 2 1/2 hours, my legs and shoulders feel sore so we all decided to head back to our cabin to rest. Overall, it was a fun thrilling experience. It's not as easy as it seems but it's not as hard either. You just really need to find your balance and keep on trying even after the embarrassing falls!

How to get to CWC:
From the Airport: Tricycles are available outside the airport. Tell the driver to take you to the Provincial Capitol Complex where CWC is specifically located. It takes about 5 mins and the usual rate is P150.
Driving directions from Naga City: It would take about 10 mins from Naga. Head north on Abella St towards Pan-Philippine Highway. Turn right onto Pan-Phil Hwy. Go straight then after 700 meters, turn right.  After 100m, turn right again. Go straight then after 400m, take the first right. Go straight then take the second left and you have arrived at CWC. (Okay, that sounded so confusing even for me! You know you can always ask? Hihi trust me Bicolanos are so warm and friendly so there's no harm in asking for directions)

Update: As of August 2013, CWC Big Lake is now open! For those who have been trying this sport for awhile, you may now opt to try practicing your craft at the big lake to experience tougher challenges!

The Basic Formula

Monday, July 22, 2013

They say there's no formula for a no fail outfit.
But maybe, just maybe, I sorta kinda discovered the formula for it. It's all about dealing with the basics -a crisp white blouse, a pair of matchstick pants and gold chain necklaces. I think it's perfect for women wanting an easy to pull off tailored look.
What do you guys think on my attempt of creating a fail proof outfit?
