Let your man take you shopping.

Androgyny fashion has becoming more and more popular. But androgyny isn’t just for the boys, though: with Grace Jones, Patti Smith and Tilda Swinton leading the way, gender-neutral dressing is big – and it’s not going anywhere soon.

On the catwalk, female models have traditionally been above average height, with small chests and undefined curves – almost boyish in appearance. Last year, the gender boundaries of the fashion world were blurred even further when androgynous model Andrej Pejic broke into international high fashion fame by modelling women’s wear. This season, androgyny has reared its head on the catwalk once again, with plenty of inspiration being drawn from “dandyism”.
Women can look really striking in gender-neutral items such as chinos, men’s-fit shirts, blazers, boaters, v-neck sweaters and no-frills accessories. The high street is brimming with style ideas, but why not approach gender-neutral clothing from the other direction, and have a mooch through the men’s department instead? Plus, with this tactic, you can bring your boyfriend along for the trip, encouraging him to shop for himself – and perhaps pick up a few things for you, too!
It may take a little patience at first, as you figure out how your dress size translates to men’s sizing, but with a wider variety of cuts, styles and fabrics to choose from, you’re more likely to find the perfect androgynous outfit – just be sure to try before you buy to ensure a comfortable fit.

If your boyfriend has a similar hip size to you, you’re definitely in a great position to drag him along on the expedition and sneak a few things into his basket. Gender-neutral accessories like hats, sunglasses and braces can also be shared, so with a bit of fashion-savvy and by combining forces you could end up with a whole new wardrobe.
