This is the part where you expect to read the lines “ Oh thank you 2012, you have been good to me. This year is a year full of ups and downs blah blah rada rada…”.  But let’s change the game for a little while cause I will be talking about high heels.
(You say whaaaaat?! Don’t ask. Just keep on reading)

This New Year I will answer the million dollar question of men, “Why do women wear high heels anyway?” I know most of them are so clueless why we keep on insisting on wearing high heels and just end up complaining about the pain.
Aren’t we just making ourselves look like a fool?

They will say, “Oh c’mon just wear some flats, lady”. “It will provide you with the comfort that you need so you won’t have to complain about anything”.

Filipinos call it “tiis ganda” but I call it “the way to happiness”.

Let me share a short story. There was this one time when I opted to wear high-heeled shoes on a busy day in school. I couldn’t really explain it in words but that day I felt that I’m strong, beautiful, and …(oh I don’t know it simply made me happy.)

So there I was strutting my style and having the time of my life with the Vogue song playing in my head ”Come on vogue, let your body move to the music hey hey hey…” Then I heard a loud thud. The next thing I knew, my things were all over the place and I found myself… face flat on the floor. The people who saw the incident started laughing at me.
So I went home, disappointed, embarrassed and ashamed. “Why does it have to look so perfect in the movies?” I wanted to curse the people who laughed at me. I hated myself for wearing those stilettos. I even got to the point wherein I told myself, “I will never wear high heels EVER AGAIN!!!”.

So I didn’t wear heels for quite some time. I couldn’t risk being hurt again -- physically and emotionally. But it didn’t take that long wherein I wanted to wear those high-heeled shoes again just so I can feel that I’m strong, beautiful, and just happy all over again.

And right there and then I realized,
Wearing high heels is like falling in love.
Wearing high heels is like being in business.
Wearing high heels is like learning to live.

You sometimes think you’re ready but you’re not.
You risk everything but you end up falling face flat on the floor.
You feel ashamed. You feel betrayed. You feel useless.
But there will come a point in time where in you are ready to risk it all over again
You know that it will soon be worth it.
You will end up being strong, beautiful and… happy.

So you see? This is the very reason why women will keep on buying Christian Louboutin shoes even if it means going home with callused feet and a broken wallet. Ending this high heels story with a quote…
All I'm saying is that Love is magnificent. Life is magnificent. High-heeled shoes are magnificent but one must be prepared to suffer for it.
Start of cliché speech!
Taking this opportunity to thank everyone who made my 2012 what it is.
Thanking the Lord for making me realize that I am blessed with family and friends who will always be there for me even in my worst form -- even if I'm wearing high heels, flats or even barefoot!

Cheers to a year in high heels, everyone!
