Tummy is Happy Diaries: Wee Nam Kee

Monday, April 9, 2012

A few weeks back, my parents celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary. Even days before the celebration, we knew we wanted to dine out in Wee Nam Kee so I immediately reserved a table for us. If you're coming here in a big group, make sure to make a reservation, it tends to be full by 7:30 pm, especially on weekends.

When you step inside, one of the first things that you'd notice are these lovely light cages!
The tables are black with black and dark orange colored seats. Pretty basic, nothing fancy schmancy. However, I adore the little details they added such as the cage lighting fixtures and the black medium-sized picture frames they added to the walls.
Choosing...choosing...choosing.
Don't you think it's harder to choose when everything looks so appetizing?
Steamed Hainanese Chicken, Php 488
Medium (3-4pax)
"The tender chicken is drizzled with light soy sauce and a secret blend of sesame oils, before being served with coriander and cucumber garnish. The dish is to be enjoyed with several dips, including chili sauce and pounded ginger".

When you order, they will ask you if you want it to be roasted or steamed. As seen in the photo, we chose to have it steamed. I think that the dips match the steamed version more than the roasted version. I guess, the best thing that I love about this dish is that it is so flavorful yet the taste is not overwhelming to the taste buds.
Sizzling Hot Plate Tofu, Php 235
I just realized how our family loves tofu! No matter what kind of restaurant we go to -- Chinese, Japanese, and now even Singaporean -- we don't forget to order a tofu dish. Well, this dish is pretty plain. Nothing to go gaga raving about. It's tofu mixed with eggplant, mushrooms, corn, onions, and other veggies paired with a sweet salty sauce.
Happy Anniversary, mom and dad! Cheers to the many more wonderful years that we would celebrate your anniversary. You know how people say that when two people spend too much time together, they end up looking alike? I'm starting to believe them. Just look at my parents. HAHA
It's my second time to eat here and my tummy is happy to proclaim that it was satisfied, yet again.

If you starting to have a craving for Hainanese Chicken head over to Wee Name Kee!
