Chao Phraya Princess, Bangkok Day 3

Wednesday, April 25, 2012

Part 2 of our trip in Bangkok!
As usual, it's gonna be more fun when pictures do the talking. I don't wanna ramble and ramble until I bore you guys to death. So let's proceed, shall we?
The closest MRT stop from our hotel in Bangkok.
NaRaYa fever! You bet we got them when we were there.
And... Beauty Buffet! Another shop that I spent a lot of time on. It's a girly-gaga laaaaaaaand!
(see my excitement? haha)

The female hosts in the cruise dressed up like this... totally cool and creative!
Boarding the boat! Just in case you wanna go to a dinner cruise while you're in Bangkok, I recommend getting the tickets from Hotels2Thailand.com. They can provide you hotel transfer services.
Talk about livin' the life of the rich and famous even for just a brief two hours.
Best thing about having a buffet dinner = countless food choices!
Yes, we were still inside the cruise when this shot was taken. Cool, huh?
And there ends my travel blog for Bangkok Day 2!
I've got one final post to write so stay tune for it!

Tummy is Happy Diaries: Wee Nam Kee

Monday, April 9, 2012

A few weeks back, my parents celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary. Even days before the celebration, we knew we wanted to dine out in Wee Nam Kee so I immediately reserved a table for us. If you're coming here in a big group, make sure to make a reservation, it tends to be full by 7:30 pm, especially on weekends.

When you step inside, one of the first things that you'd notice are these lovely light cages!
The tables are black with black and dark orange colored seats. Pretty basic, nothing fancy schmancy. However, I adore the little details they added such as the cage lighting fixtures and the black medium-sized picture frames they added to the walls.
Choosing...choosing...choosing.
Don't you think it's harder to choose when everything looks so appetizing?
Steamed Hainanese Chicken, Php 488
Medium (3-4pax)
"The tender chicken is drizzled with light soy sauce and a secret blend of sesame oils, before being served with coriander and cucumber garnish. The dish is to be enjoyed with several dips, including chili sauce and pounded ginger".

When you order, they will ask you if you want it to be roasted or steamed. As seen in the photo, we chose to have it steamed. I think that the dips match the steamed version more than the roasted version. I guess, the best thing that I love about this dish is that it is so flavorful yet the taste is not overwhelming to the taste buds.
Sizzling Hot Plate Tofu, Php 235
I just realized how our family loves tofu! No matter what kind of restaurant we go to -- Chinese, Japanese, and now even Singaporean -- we don't forget to order a tofu dish. Well, this dish is pretty plain. Nothing to go gaga raving about. It's tofu mixed with eggplant, mushrooms, corn, onions, and other veggies paired with a sweet salty sauce.
Happy Anniversary, mom and dad! Cheers to the many more wonderful years that we would celebrate your anniversary. You know how people say that when two people spend too much time together, they end up looking alike? I'm starting to believe them. Just look at my parents. HAHA
It's my second time to eat here and my tummy is happy to proclaim that it was satisfied, yet again.

If you starting to have a craving for Hainanese Chicken head over to Wee Name Kee!

Tummy is Happy Diaries: Kogi Bulgogi

Saturday, February 11, 2012

I consider my love for Korean food -- "a love at first bite".
Ever since a friend invited me to a Korean restaurant near the university, I knew in that moment that I have forget all my dreams of successfully completing a full month-diet plan.
I had no choice but to welcome back Tina the talking tummy with wide open arms.
Seriously, sino bang hindi tataba? Appetizer pa lang, winiwish mo na sana hindi pumutok yung button ng jeans mo

But who cares? Nevermind Tina. I can't let a month pass without Korean food in my life.
It's like life without love, a year without rain. Kidding. :))
Going to the point of my story, my uncle treated us to Kogi Bulgogi for his birthday!
Let the photos start the talking...
Haemul Pa Jeon - They say it's complimentary once you've reached a Php 1000 worth of purchase. Nothing fancy, it's some sort of an omelette with spring onions. Well, I guess it's nice to have this as to balance out the taste from the other flavorful dishes.
House Salad - Well to be honest, I didn't even attempt to taste this. I'm not very fond of salad. They say it tastes like Caesar salad but with a korean twist.
All the appetizers -- just the usual-- spicy dilis, kimchi, quail eggs, honey-coated peanuts, beansprouts and bitter melon.
Sam Gyup Sal Ssambap - Rice with pork and lettuce. I like the fact that the pork is tender and easy to eat. As for the taste, I feel like I'm eating pork with light teriyaki sauce.
Sae-u (Tempura) - Prawn tempura in tempura batter. Tastes just like Japanese tempura. I guess the only difference is the coating, this one has more crumbs than the usual Japanese tempura.
The interior is inviting, especially for a person like me -- a sucker for any place that's simple and minimalistic yet creatively presented.
Time for dessert! One brand comes to mind -- MELONA!
Don't get me wrong, I love the other kinds -- the red bean fish ice cream and the strawberry yogurt one but I can't manage to remember the other brands. haha

Drooling now? Head over to Libis!
Have a Kogi Bulgogi experience

When You Turn 21

Sunday, January 15, 2012

When you turn 21, You….

1) Are forced to face the world and act like a grown up
Stating the obvious. Most people graduate at the age of 21. And you know what comes after graduation – the sometimes dreadful and sometimes exciting *drumroll* -- JOB HUNT
Job hunts can pretty much be a fun topic to dream of but sometimes the pressure (especially when you have graduated a year ago) spells no fun at all.

2) Can no longer use the “I’m too young” excuse
You know those times few times when you feel like being a KJ and you don’t wanna drink, party out and go to a casino. You can always say “I’m too young, I’m not even allowed to enter”. But when you turn 21, you have to consult your excuse book and make up new ones. Haha.

3) Have to replace fun silly things with more serious stuff
Remember the flubber jars, Chinese garters and fuzzy balls?  We used to treat them as if they’re sacred things. These things made our childhood so happy and magical but sad to say, when you turn 21, you are left with no choice but to start dumping those kiddie things into the trashcan. As much as you want to keep them and treasure the memories, you do want your room to look more “lady and business-like”.

And guess who turned 21?
Haha No. Not me. It’s my sister, actually.

We went to Omakase last Tuesday to celebrate her 21st birthday. Yes, we went to a Japanese resto once again.
There's the birthday girl!
Buti naman at naisipan mo na ring suotin ang blazer na bigay ko! Baka lang naman kasi malaos na ang animal print at hindi mo pa rin sinusuot.
Awkward angle shot!
Went to Frutti FroYo afterwards!
I feel like it’s just a month ago when we would share a room and we would play Harvest Moon until our eyeballs pop out. Haha. Okay that’s exaggerating. But we would wake up really early or stay up late just to play Harvest Moon in our playstation or Harry Potter in our shared Gameboy Advance. And now, she has graduated from college and now working at a fashion company brand.
I couldn’t imagine life without my sister. She was my guide, my laughing buddy, my patient photographer, and ultimately my best friend.
Happy happy birthday Ate Anna. I know I seldom call you “ate” because I think ate+anna doesn’t really match. So please cherish this “once in a blue moon” moment. Haha
I love you.
Your baby (or feeling baby lang) sister

Deliziose Pizze

Tuesday, January 10, 2012

It just sucks when you're working on a paper in the middle of the night and then suddenly you began to have a craving for Italian pizza. :|

Yabu: The House of Katsu

Sunday, December 11, 2011

A birthday wish was granted! Had my birthday dinner at Yabu, 2/F Megamall Atrium

"When you are served OUR Yabu Katsu, you can tell the difference right away- the katsu is so crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, you can slice it with chopsticks.
The secret lies in our fresh, quality ingredients, and our method of cooking" -- Yabu

Let's put this claim to a test!
thanks to my parents for agreeing to eat here!
My parents and sister ordered the Rosu 120g. They were surprised of its size. They said they should've ordered the 90g size.
And yea since I'm always the odd one and have weird taste. I ordered the Rosu Katsu Curry.
Picture pa lang, yummy na! haha
The ambience in this resto is really nice. Nothing fancy just simple.
The waiter showing my mom the whole process of making the katsu sauce. May interactive segment! A-WESOME! haha
Using the wooden pestle, crush the sesame seeds.
Then add the tonkatsu sauce.
 TADAAAA. the final product!
So my order finally arrived! I don't have the interactive-making-the-sauce-part since I ordered curry. If you guys want to experience the crushing-mixing part, better order the plain Rosu.
 lalaloveeeee Rosu Curry!
Oh did I mention that they're serving unlimited cabbage? Oh yea!
 My momma and dada. haha
 With my sister
 Happy 19th birthday to me!
Thanks to all those who greeted. >:D<
I better make the most out of my last teen year. huhu.

So excited for my next visit to Yabu! I give this resto a two thumbs up!
It may be a little pricey but trust me, It's worth it. ;)
And true enough, they found the perfect balance of "crispy on the outside and soft on the inside"
