Bare Necessity

Sometimes when there's just so much to do (and there's so little time), you've got to depend on the basics cause they will be your lifesavers.
Well in this case, a nude colored dress and a black blazer were my heroes. I'd say they made a pretty good job by being one.
What do you think?

The Basic Formula

Monday, July 22, 2013

They say there's no formula for a no fail outfit.
But maybe, just maybe, I sorta kinda discovered the formula for it. It's all about dealing with the basics -a crisp white blouse, a pair of matchstick pants and gold chain necklaces. I think it's perfect for women wanting an easy to pull off tailored look.
What do you guys think on my attempt of creating a fail proof outfit?

Pastel Details

Monday, July 15, 2013

My love affair with pastel has been going on for months and months now.
Its muted soft tones are incredibly appealing for my taste. In fact, it has held me captive. It might seem I'm over exaggerating. But if you can just witness my spazzing over pastel-colored clothing pieces , I know you'll totally understand. Well, sort of.

Don't you just love green and white worn together?
Is it just me or does this really give that refreshing effect to an outfit. I know the word refreshing works best to describe drinks and dessert but my brain is acting a little weird today so yes, I'm describing my outfit -- refreshing. Well, what do you think of this ensemble?

Spring Season

Monday, May 6, 2013

IMG_0378IMG_0384IMG_0382IMG_0380IMG_0381
Spring Season.
It's the season when people pull out their bright-colored tops and nail polishes. It's the season when people celebrate majestic festivals and parties. I always dreamed of living in a country with four seasons so I could attend a Spring festival like most people. However, I can't stand the thought of leaving Manila just so I can witness flowers bloom in Spring and watch snow fall in Winter. I love home way too much to trade it with the seasons of nature so here I am trying to channel the Spring Season into my outfit last Sunday. My bright-colored floral pants makes me feel the Spring vibe already! Haha
What do you guys think of floral pants? Yay or Nay?

Hongdae: An Artistic Hub

Tuesday, April 30, 2013

Korea Day 3
When one door closes, a window opens.
We're suppose to go to Nami Island (also known as the Winter Sonata lane) today but plans changed due to the weather situation yesterday. My mom then suggested that we explore the place called Hongdae. It's where young college students usually hangout at night since it's located near the Hongik University. Discovering this place is actually a blessing in disguise! We were able to visit a lot of shops that are selling artsy and quirky items plus an overload of stylish and reasonably priced clothing pieces! If you're following me on Instagram (@jessnothinless), I actually described the place as  "a piece of heaven here on earth". So if you're going on a trip to Seoul, make sure you allot some time to explore Hongdae. I highly recommend this place for fashionistas and shopaholics on a budget!
I'll do a separate post about Hongdae once I get back in Manila so just stay tuned for that.

Korea 1
Greetings from South Korea!
To be honest, I'm typing this words - half-asleep. My eyes are all droopy now so I just want to make this post quick! This is what I wore for out first day in Seoul. I know it looks like a bit off cause it may seem that I'm wearing winter clothes when in fact it's spring here already. (Why hello there cherry blossoms!) Well here's what I have to say. The 39 to 9 degrees Celsius drop is way too overwhelming for me. So here I was wearing the thickest jacket that I could ever find my closet. My sister and I even wanted to wear gloves!

Pardon me on insisting to wear winter clothes? haha

Giddy Up!

Thursday, April 25, 2013

Today, I turned from this...
IMG_0004
Into this.
Outfit 0424
It's a little bit embarrassing to explain why.
I was magically transformed into this extra happy creature (photo above) all because I was able to finish a task. It may seem like a simple task for some, but for me it's serious business. My sister and I are very OC when it comes to planning our travel itineraries. In fact, during our last trip abroad we even included the time for bathroom breaks.  Yuhuh. Since my sister has work all week, I'm left with the responsibility to finish the task. I vowed that I will print the DIY itinerary today and so I did!Yes, that pretty much explains already everything. haha!

How about you? What are the little things that make you happy and giddy?

Pants for the Summer?

Friday, April 19, 2013

IMG_9876 Max Factor
What I did today: Attended the Max Factor Beauty Event
I initially wanted to wear a pair of shorts but then I figured that it wouldn't be appropriate so I chose this brown harem-ish pants instead.
I, then, pulled out a printed sheer top and paired the entire outfit with some nude wedges. I just realized that wearing pants during the summer isn't so bad after all. You just need to find the pair with the right kind of fabric. Do you guys agree?

The Recital

Sunday, April 14, 2013

I spent 4 hours watching a dance recital at the AFP theater yesterday.
I'm not really a big fan of the ballet performances but I did enjoy watching the show cause my 6-year-old cousin was part of it. Seriously, what's cuter than little kids with their little tutus? I also couldn't help but give a faint shriek whenever 4 or 5-year-old kids come out with their little hoodies and caps to bust some hiphop moves. Oh, the joy of seeing kids dance! IMG_9810 2 0413 OUTFIT IMG_9814 IMG_9815
As for the outfit, I decided to wear something dainty and a little bit formal. I chose the brown dress cause I loved the interesting details on the neckline. Top off the look, I paired the dress with pink accents - the wedges and the necklace.
What do you think about this look? Do you guys like dance performances too?

Do you remember your art classes in grade school? I sure do!
You know why? Cause I sucked at it. I remember barely getting a line of eighty on my plates. That's why I never considered myself artistic or creative during my entire grade school life. I didn't know that becoming an artist is way more than being good at sketching or painting. I later found out that you can be an artist in countless ways. We just have to choose the canvas through which we can work our magic. And maybe, I have realized that dressing up is not just a measly task but it really is a form of art. Don't you think so too? Since we're on that artsy fartsy page already-- for this certain outfit A.K.A artwork of mine, I have chosen to mix textures.
I paired the silk textured top with the sequins textured skirt then topped it off with a bead textured necklace.

Well how's that for being a mixed media artist?
Wooza.

Today is the mark of my parents' 23rd wedding anniversary and we decided to celebrate it at Tagaytay!
I just wore a simple ikat printed dress and a cardigan. I made sure to wear a cover up to cope up with the sweater weather in Tagaytay. I'm definitely loving the weather up there! I actually wished Manila has that weather too just so I can always wear a hoodie or a cardigan anytime I want. Easy breezy, eh?
I hope you guys had a lovely Sunday with your family too!

Double Check if You Must!

P2010492
It sucks when you receive an unexpected amount in your phone bill.
I think everyone can relate to me when I say it's even worse when mobile carrier companies are billing you incorrectly. My phone bill came a few days back and I discovered that they are billing me twice for my internet usage! No, I'm not trying to rant. I'm just saying that it really pays to double check your billing statement, ladies and gents. Although companies have an automated system, things CAN still go wrong. Wondering what's the connection with the outfit photo? Well, this what I wore today while I was falling in line at the service center. And I really do hope this doesn't happen again or else...I might really consider on switching to a new mobile carrier.
Hmm is it really time to change?

Not So Sporty

Wednesday, January 16, 2013

IMG_1654
To be quite honest, today is an intensified athletic day for a non-sporty kiddo like me.
I had PE classes in the morning and I attended a yoga class to cap off my evening. But as you can see, I am not wearing sporty clothes on this photo. This is what I was wearing during errand hours. The rest of the day is spent on sweatpants and 'pambahay' looking t-shirts. Haha! I'll try to do a sporty outfit post next time!

Laidback

Tuesday, January 15, 2013

IMG_1637
What Jess usually wears on a laidback Tuesday.
I usually don't have to attend college classes during Tuesdays so I often stay home, do some errands and finish some business related tasks. Today was different though, I had to attend driving school (which scared the hell out of me) The instructor lead me to a narrow road where all the big trucks are. I felt like a tiny person battling out with the big strong guys.

Wish me luck on my driving days!

I adore basic clothing pieces in my wardrobe.
When you don't feel like mixing colors and patterns together, basic pieces come to the rescue. I mean who could go wrong with a black & white ensemble, right? Plus, if you don't want to look too safe you can always add a pop of color. In my case, I wore teal wedges to add the extra kick that my outfit asks for.

On the side note, I was finally able to spot the Keep Calm and Carry On book at Fully Booked! I'm so excited to read all the quotable quotes (and display it on my bookshelf! haha)

Happy Three Kings, everyone!

Emerge

Friday, January 4, 2013

Hooray for the first outfit post this 2013!
I knew I wanted to wear white just because the color screams 'new beginnings'.
And I know for a fact that every loves new beginnings. A fresh start. A clean slate. Whatever call it.
So there I was pulling out a white button-down polo during my first day in school this 2013. And I have always loved anything leather so I pulled out the partly leather and partly stretch cotton pants from my sister's closet. My whole outfit turned out to be 'too formal' for school but I loved it anyway. What do you guys think?

HYPE MY LOOK?

Of Holidays and Goodbyes

Thursday, November 22, 2012

I'm getting old.
IMG_8494
Whenever holidays are coming up, I get that irksome feeling that I'm gonna be a year older again. That's the sad part about being born on December. It's like the happiest and saddest month of the year.   It's the happiest cause you feel extra loved on your birthday because everyone seems to know that it's your birthday even though they're only notified by Facebook and the holiday environment makes all the grumpy boys and girls turn into cheerful creatures. It's the saddest cause you get to bid goodbye to your young self and welcome the new age digits into your life. And of course, all must say bye-bye to another year and welcome a new one!
